Keurig (internal role)
Principal UX/UI Designer. Managed internal and external UX designers and researchers, as well as collaborated with stakeholders across product, industrial design, software engineering, mechanical engineering, and customer support. Took the program from concept to market, launching on July 27, 2021.
Design a user experience system for a connected coffee maker that spans multiple touchpoints.
I worked with external partners to develop initial hardware UI design. After multiple rounds of user testing with InVision prototypes and aligning with internal stakeholders, we defined the user experience principles of the appliance interface. From there, I created extensive UI maps that defined styles and documented each user flow.
91% Connection Rate*
I designed a seamless out-of-box connection experience for the brewer. The on-screen brewer instructions go hand-in-hand with the app instructions, guiding the user along every step of the way.
APPLIANCE EXPERIENCE
This Wi-Fi® connected coffee maker is powered by BrewID™, a next-generation technology platform designed to give consumers a perfectly customized, rich full-flavored coffee just the way they like it. To provide consumers a distinctively delicious cup every time, BrewID™ technology recognizes the specific brand and roast of the K-Cup® pod and automatically customizes the brew settings to the recommendations of the coffee expert who created it.
CUSTOMIZATION
Consumers can also put their own spin on perfection, by fine tuning it even more with an expanded range of temperature, strength and size settings. The display screen and LED buttons guide users to their perfect cup through intuitive, delightful interactions.
Brewing
In addition to the LED buttons, the large OLED screen provided another affordance to signal to the user that their coffee is brewing and to provide delightful messages when complete.
Keurig App
On the Keurig mobile app, consumers can store and personalize their coffee preferences, schedule a brew in advance or brew a cup from anywhere, and can connect their brewer to Alexa and control it with voice commands.
I created the information architecture and defined the primary user flows, and then provided guidance to an external designer to build out all of the screens and interactions.
